Jevenn has had this business name for several years and we have talked about developing a logo for quite a while…so we finally made it happen. Thus the creative process of finding the right symbol to brand his business started…design after design was drawn up and picked apart until we finally settled on the RIGHT ONE!

After many, many hours of long, hard work Clay Mountain now officially bears a new branding logo! Congratulations, Jevenn!

Oh, one other thing I have to mention about this photo shoot: Having the sun play hide-n-seek with us as it peeks around this cloud and then around that cloud made for some AMAZING lighting.  I would get a shot all set up with what I thought was some pretty good lighting and then when I would raise my trusty Canon camera to my eye I could feel the sun peeking out from behind a cloud and would see breath-taking sun rays dynamically enhancing my original composition.  Well, all this happened over and over again and took less a second…so all I could do was hammer away on my camera for the few fleeting moments that I had that ray of light. Then the sun would hide behind the next cloud and we would move on to the next location or composition.  All in all I have to say that I am so thankful that God was managing the lighting for me on this shoot (Thank you, Lord).

Yonahs Heart website is one that has been in development for about 6 months now.  It has gone through many changes and development ideas as the ministry, ministry name, website design, ministry branding, etc. have all been coming together at the same time.  Before the website Michelle had a blog that was loaded with tons of incredible posts focused on encouraging families!  The challenge was to design a website that could be swamped with a wealth of information without looking or feeling overwhelmed with it all.  It took awhile to design the right site, but at long last we hit upon the new and super improved Yonahs Heart website! It is extremely user friendly and is loaded to the hilt with posts on all sorts of things, from how to make amazing lemonade to family health and even on how to help your kids handle bullying.

I am super excited to finally have this site up and running and to see the popularity & web traffic of it grow and expand.

Finding the perfect logo brand for an organization is fun but sometimes can almost seem impossible.  Like, how in the world did Nike think up the idea of using a Swoosh to brand their business?  I mean everyone knows that a swoosh on clothes, shoes, hats, etc. mean it’s Nike.  So how does one make a brand for an organization that will have this same effect on the world?

All of these thoughts were running around in my brain when I was presented with the task of creating a logo that would brand Yonahs Heart organization.  Then, as always, God brought an idea to me while I was busy with another project…a heart with the “Y” in it.  Out came the sketch pad and pencil to put ideas on paper.  Well, the idea was great, but I just couldn’t find a drawing that would encompass what was in my head.  Every single idea seemed so complicated and didn’t have the feel or look that I was going for.  And then it SNAPPED and the logo came together.  It is a simple design with a hidden complexity in it.  Not only is it a heart with the letter “Y”, but if you reverse the logo you will notice that the letter “Y” becomes a perfect “h”.  Yet again, God provided me with the creativity for a logo that not only made me happy (important) but made my client extremely happy (VERY IMPORTANT).   With the design perfected, the vectoring commenced and the finished logo came into being!

And that is the design and creation story for the new brand/logo for Yonahs Heart.

Dutch Monarch Gourmet Ice Cream! What a mouthwatering website to work on. I had the incredible opportunity to fully take over the Dutch Monarch website and to do a total makeover of the site and social media! So where to start…well the first thing I did was to transfer all of the data over to my server, then began the fun task of designing a whole new look that would help to sell this amazing, Dutch Specialty Ice Cream.
This ice cream was developed by a Dutch baker many years ago and the secret recipe was passed onto to the owners of Dutch Monarch. The owners then had the idea of figuring out a way to create an ice cream that could be shipped as a powder, was easy and quick to make, but still kept its gourmet texture and appeal. Thus, Dutch Monarch Gourmet Ice Cream Powder came into being!
One side note: A MAJOR perk to being the designer for the new website… since I was going to need to fully understand the product and take product pictures, the company sent me a whole box of gourmet ice cream powder for developmental purposes (big grin). It was extremely fun to mix up batch after batch of ice cream for website development design, and then it was even more fun to find ways to eat it all!!!
From a designer’s point of view, this website presented many new challenges for me since it needed its own custom designed shopping cart. It turned out to be more complex and extremely challenging to make everything WORK. But at long last and after lots of fun coding, the shopping cart came into being and the site was officially launched!

Unlike any other logo project I have had the opportunity of working on, this one started off with quite an interesting spin.  The owners of CEVC have an old school graphic designer friend that still does all his work with a real life pen and sketch pad! He drew out several logo designs for CEVC before I was brought on board to help the members of CEVC decide on the best logo design we could electronically create from the drawings.  Once that brainstorming session was complete we ended up liking several aspects of one logo drawing and a couple aspects of another one.  Thus, I was the one that got to figure out a way to scan in both of these hand drawn designs and to make a fully vectored logo with all the favorite aspects!

All in all, I would love to do more work with this old school graphic designer. It was totally cool to look over logo sketches on paper instead of on a computer screen.  Sometimes old school is still the coolest school!

Capturing a beautiful day was the key to the base of a professional website!

CleanEarth Ventures Canada (CEVC) is a company that focuses on cleaning water for drilling operations.  They asked me to design a simple website as an upgrade for their yahoo website and to provide a more professional and modern look.  I started the search for a good style that would meet their needs by providing a very clean, fresh look and feel for the site.

One VERY cool aspect of this project is that I was able to use a picture I took last summer while driving to Calgary, Alberta.  As I drove I glanced out the window and saw the bluest sky against the greenest fields I had ever seen.  I pulled over on the side of the highway to capture this amazing handiwork of God.  Taking this picture I never realized that I would get the opportunity to use it for the background of a professional business website.

As always, I enjoyed working on this short, quick website project.  For the amount of time put into it I think the site turned out very well.  What do you think?

How to describe this family photo session in just a few words…INCREDIBLE and VERY CUTE!

When I was asked to shoot the Guynup’s family photos I was super excited.  This FALL I have been busy with every other aspect of Infinity FOCUS and have not had a whole lot of time to take family pictures…and this family has some super photogenic and cute kids!  Well, unlike all my other post I will let the images do the talking for me.  Hope you enjoy!
